Charles Frank Caletka
A Mass of Christian Burial for Charles Frank Caletka will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2013, in St. Rita Catholic Church, with Rev. Craig Scott officiating. Interment will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens under the direction of John Kramer & Son.
Friends are asked to call from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday and from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at John Kramer & Son.
Charles Frank Caletka, 82, of Alexandria, passed away February 23, 2013, in Hilltop Nursing Center, Pineville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings.
Charles married Mae Gertrude Sonnier on August 16, 1952.
Mr. Caletka served in the United States Marine Corps from 1947-1956. He was an Expert Rifleman on the Marine Corps Marks Man Shooting Team. He received many awards including the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal in the Marines Corps. Continuing his military career, Charles served in the United States Air Force as an Intel Operator Technician from 1956-1969. He was a veteran of World War II, Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era.
After returning home to his family, Mr. Caletka worked at Howard Brothers from 1969-1970, Southern Chevrolet from 1970-1978 and retired from the Civil Service Department at England Force Base.
He was a longtime member of St. Rita Catholic Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 60 years, Gertrude Sonnier Caletka, three sons, Gregory K. Caletka, Timothy C. Caletka and Gary L. Caletka, three grandsons, Timothy R. Caletka, Aaron K. Caletka and Chad A. Caletka and two granddaughters, Alexis Caletka and Laci Caletka all of Alexandria.
