Dorothy McDonald Odom, 94, of Glenmora passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013 in her home.

She is preceded in death by her husband, L.W. Odom, Jr., her two brothers: Larry and J.W. McDonald; and her parents W.E. and Grace Martin McDonald.

Dorothy began her life's journey on February 2, 1919. She was born into a generation of determined and self – sufficient people, often referred to as the "Greatest Generation." Her life's path was not always easy, a survivor of cancer at an early age, but she faced it with courage and grace. She worked as a teller at Guaranty Bank in Alexandria; and served as assistant town clerk for the Town of Glenmora for 24 years. Later in life, she opened a knit shop in Glenmora, where she taught many to knit and needle point. She was an active and dedicated member of: Eastern Star, Jewel Chapter #100, Glenmora Homemakers and Glenmora Knitting Club. She also served as a Sunday School Teacher at Glenmora Baptist Church for many years.

In spite of her many accomplishments and activities, the most important things to her were the love of her family and service for her Lord.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Judith Fuller and her husband Bill of Kinder, LA; her son Greg Odom and his wife Sondra of Glenmora; a granddaughter, Heather Odom Nguyen of Round Rock, TX; a grandson Greg Odom, II, of Alexandria; and her great grandchildren: Sydney, Ethan, Cameron and Madeline all of Round Rock, TX.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Jimmy McDonald, Grice McDonald, Jamey McDonald, Jon McDonald, Lucas Guy and Casey Guy.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the J.W. McDonald Library, 1075 Hwy 497, Glenmora, LA 71433.
