A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Mrs. Jessie Brossette will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Colfax, LA with Father Harold Imamshah and Deacon E.J. Barre officiating. Interment will be at Rachal Cemetery in Marco, LA under the direction of Kramer of Colfax.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 14, 2013 from 5:00-9:00p.m. and again from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Kramer of Colfax. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jessie Mae (Duthile) Brossette, 90, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013, surrounded by her family on Nantachie Lake in Montgomery, Louisiana.
She was born February 25, 1923 in Marco, Louisiana to Edmond & Rosaline (LaCaze) Duthile.
On October, 24, 1945 Jessie was married to the love of her life, Alvin (Son) Brossette in Marco.
During her lifetime Jessie worked for South Central Bell, Central St. Hospital and retired from Pinecrest State Hospital.
Failing health caused the need for she and her husband to move in with her daughter, Brenda and husband Rick, 15 years ago.
Jessie loved watching EWTN, reading her paper (every word on every page), doing word search puzzles and spending time with her family. One of her favorite passtimes was watching her son, Bubba, ride in the horse races.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edmond & Rosaline LaCaze Duthile; five brothers, Clinton Duthile, Joseph Duthile, Andrew Duthile,Eugene Duthile and Lawrence Duthile; three sisters, Louise Rachal, Clementine Rachal and Alberta Rachal and Husband of 57 years, Alvin (Son) Brossette.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Branda Slayter and son-in-law, Rick Slayter; and her son, Alvin (Bubba) Brossette & Lanie Quebedeaux. Her grandchildren: Rick Slayter Jr. and Pam Howell, John and Misty Slayter, Kristi and Ronald Sonier and Taylor Ann VanBebber. Her great-Grandchildren: Tre' Slayter, Alexys Dupree, Nate Slayter, Kenzie Sonier, Bo Howell, Emily Howell and Caleb Howell.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Rick Slayter, John Slayter, Tre' Slayter, Ronald Sonier, Delton Coutee, Kirby Moreau, Rodney Salard and Larry Brossette.
Our heartfelt thanks to the Doctors and staff of Hospice Care of Avoyelles and for the many prayers and acts of kindness from family, church families, neighbors and friends.
Jessie (Grannie), as she was known, will be greatly missed by the many whose lives she touched.
