Reverend Kenneth Merle Morrison

Reverend Kenneth Merle Morrison died peacefully Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Hilltop Nursing and Rehab Facility in Pineville, La. He was born in Wichita, Kansas on November 14, 1922 to Leonidas and Sadie Morrison.
Kenneth was called to the ministry after completing service in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He filled pastorates in Baton Rouge, Shreveport, and St. Louis, Mo. In 1967 he moved to the Forest Hill community to minister as a replacement pastor to local churches while, along with his wife, operating Morrison Landscaping and Nursery. He drew great enjoyment from his late in life career as author of the newspaper column, "View From My Corner of the World", which appeared in several local publications.
Kenneth was preceded in death by, Doris Williams Morrison, his wife of 55 years and by two brothers: Robert Morrison and Eugene Morrison.
He is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Jon Morrison Foote and partner David Nagy, of Pineville; and one son, Ronald Merle Morrison and wife Lissa, of Pettigrew, Arkansas; and one brother, Donald Morrison, of Abilene, Texas; and four granddaughters: Sherri Foote Melder and husband Hans of Forest Hill, Thea Morrison Wiles and Sophie Morrison Stephenson both of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Lyla Merle Morrison of Los Angles, California; and by six great grandchildren: Lance Melder and wife Amanda, Gavin Melder of Forest Hill, and four others living in Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Hans Melder, Lance Melder, Gavin Melder, Richard Bushnell, Bill Tanner and Wade Jones.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 10, 2013 from 4 8 p.m. at the Kramer Funeral Home in Alexandria, La; and again on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. until time of service, at the First United Methodist Church in Lecompte with services being held at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens in Woodworth.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church in Lecompte,
