Mary Pospisil Tuma

After a wonderful 101 years of life, Mary P. Tuma peacefully passed on March 12, 2013.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tuma will be held Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of John Kramer & Son, with Rev. Tim Hisaw officiating. Interment will follow in the Libuse Czech Cemetery.

Friends are asked to call from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 and again on Thursday beginning at 12:30 p.m. until time of service.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Harry, and her sons, Tommy Tuma and Johnny Tuma.

Mrs. Tuma was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and her family moved to Libuse, Louisiana when she was two. She grew up in Libuse, married her husband, Harry Tuma, had six children, and enjoyed participating in the Czech community of friends and family. She was a member of the original Libuse Czech Heritage Singers and traveled around the state to share the Czechoslovakian culture.
She was one of the best cooks in the area and was known for her homemade cream puffs and sauerkraut and dumplings. Mrs. Tuma always enjoyed crafts, knitting, and crochet, and taught her children and grandchildren how to play games and cards.

Those left to cherish her memory: son Harry Tuma, Jr, and wife, Barbara Tuma of Libuse; daughter, Dr. June Tuma of Baton Rouge; sons, Douglas Tuma of Seattle, Washington, and Stanley Tuma of Libuse; and daughter-in-law, Ray Tuma of Libuse. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and numerous relatives. She was loved dearly by each and every one.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be John Tuma, Lewis Tuma, Stephen Tuma, Trent Tuma, Neal Tuma, and Max Moore.

Mrs. Tuma resided at The Oaks Nursing Home in Pineville for the past 12 years, and the family recognizes the staff for their generosity, care and love.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Libuse Czech Cemetery, PO Box 57, Libuse, LA 71348.
