Services for Terese "Terri" Anne Turner Juneau will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013, in First United Methodist Church, Alexandria, with Rev. Barry Hoekstra officiating. Interment will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens under the direction of John Kramer & Son.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at John Kramer & Son and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at First United Methodist Church, Alexandria.
Terri Juneau, known for being witty, joie de vivre, feisty, optimistic, smart and a fighter at the age 58, lost her battle with pancreatic cancer due to complications on January 29, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Edwin Turner and Stella Dobyns Turner and her husband, Robert Louis Juneau.
Terri graduated from Alexandria Senior High and Northeast State University. She taught at Holy Savior Menard and Pineville High School, teaching French and English. At Pineville High she was the sponsor for EF Tours and led students on twelve trips to a variety of countries in Europe. Each trip included Paris where Terri's spoken French language was admired.
She retired from Rapides Parish School System in 2012. The day of her retirement was the only day she cried during the entire course of her cancer treatment. She also worked as a part time Sales Associate at Pier One Imports, Alexandria.
Terri's desire to make a difference was evident in her contributions for the community. One of Terri's favorite sayings was, "Ask me first". She was an active member of the Junior League of Alexandria for many years, serving in various leadership positions. She also volunteered in several nonprofit organizations helping others improve their lives. Her favorite celebration was Mardi Gras and attended as many parades as possible in New Orleans.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Stephen Turner Juneau of Baton Rouge; one sister, Patti Turner Daniel and her husband, Ken of Alexandria; nephew, Richard Lane Daniel and his wife, Tasha and their children, Tyler, Lauren and Londyn; niece, Lindsey Daniel Allen and husband, Kyle and their daughter, Lila; brother-in-law, Ken Juneau and his wife, Suzan of Alexandria; nephew, Michael Juneau and his wife, Heather; nephew, Paul Juneau and his wife, Aimee. Terri was known as Nanan to her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. They especially enjoyed being around Terri because she entertained them and they felt her love for them.
Terri's family and friends would like to thank Dr. Abi-Rached and staff of Oasis Hospice and Emeritus Senior Living as well as the people who selflessly gave their time in organizing fundraising activities to help with medical expenses.
